Not by the hair on my chinny chin chin
You may know this quote from Three Little Pigs. The pigs say it to the wolf when he asks to come in. Right before he huffs and puffs. Although I know this story, over the years, this quote has meant something different to me. When I was in college, a friend of mine said “What is that on your chin?” I didn’t know what she was talking about. I looked in the mirror, and I had a long (I mean disgustingly long) hair on my chin. That was the first time I plucked a hair from my chin, and the good-natured teasing began. “Not by the hair on my chinny chin chin.”
Why am I telling you this embarrassing story?
Well, I suspect that many of you reading this have had to deal with unwanted hair growth. Most women don’t talk about it, and deal with it in the confines of their bathroom. Some try to hide it from friends and family… even their husbands. Whether you have extra hairy arms, a “treasure trail”, a stray hair (or 10) on your chest or pesky hairs that grow on your chin like me, you want it gone! Shaving, plucking, waxing, and depilatory creams are all ways to get rid of unwanted hair growth at home. However, if you want to get rid of the hair permanently, you need to get laser hair removal. This can be costly, and going to the doctor’s office is embarrassing.
Recently, I was lucky enough to try the Silk’n Flash&Go. What is it? Well, it is an FDA cleared light-based technology for permanent hair removal/ reduction for the entire body. Best part? You do it yourself, in your own home! With just two to four self-treatment sessions, most Silk’n Flash&Go users experience visually diminished hair, comparable to professional hair removal results. It is easy to use, safe, affordable, and dermatologist recommended.
Of course, one of the first places I wanted to try it was on my chin, but I also have been using it on my armpits and legs. So does it work? Here is my experience…
I have used the Silk’n Flash&Go three times so far. I didn’t notice too much after the first treatment. After the second treatment, I noticed a bit less hair on my armpits, and I could go an extra day before needing to shave there. After the third treatment, I have now noticed that there are large areas on my legs that don’t have hair. It seems that it is working on the areas furthest from bone first. In other words, I have hair on and near my shin bones, but the backs of my calves don’t have hair! Nice! Of course, my pesky chin hair is being difficult. I realize that the hair on my chin is obviously close to bone, so I am assuming this is the issue, and I am not giving up.

Tips for using the Silk’n Flash&Go
Tip #1: Read (and follow) the instructions! Simple enough, but sometimes you can get too excited about a product and just start using it before reading all of the instructions. The instruction pamphlet has important safety information and testing instructions.
Tip #2: Don’t skip the testing! You need to test each area before using the Silk’n Flash&Go. You do this by placing it on the skin of that area and pressing the button once. If you are going to have any issues using the product, you will find out in the testing phase.
Tip #3: Choose the appropriate level! There are 5 levels on this product, and you are probably not going to use the same level on all parts of your body. For example, I could use level 5 on my legs and level 3 on my underarms and chin. If you use too high of a level, it may hurt, and this product should not hurt!
Would I recommend Silk’n Flash&Go?
Short answer? Yes! Long answer? Yes, yes, yes! I am not finished with it yet, but I can see the potential to rid myself of all of my unwanted hair… permanently. Who wouldn’t want that?
