Ask anyone in my family what cookie they have to have during the holidays, and every one of them will answer peanut butter kiss cookies. Some of you may know them as peanut blossoms, but we’ve always called them peanut butter kiss cookies in our family. Forget the sugar cookies and gingerbread, we want some peanut butter and chocolate at our holiday parties! Okay, to be honest, I want peanut butter and chocolate year-round.
November is just the beginning of a holiday season full of good food and yummy treats! For me (and I’m sure many of you), this is the hardest time of year to keep a healthy lifestyle. It gets dark earlier and is colder so I don’t want to go outside for walks. Plus, the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are full of delicious treats that I can’t seem to resist. What is a girl (who is still eating Halloween candy) supposed to do?
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is difficult in a world where it is easy to eat fast food, guzzle sodas and veg out in front of the TV with peanut butter cups. At least I know it is for me, that is why I have been sharing ideas for getting in shape with your spouse and cleaning up your diet.
It has been above 90 degrees all week and doesn’t look like it will cool down any time soon. We are fortunate enough to have air conditioning in our home, so we are pretty comfortable indoors. However, we can’t stay inside all day. Our beagle, Honey, won’t allow that! She loves to be outdoors and is up for a walk anytime we are willing to take her. It is one of her favorite things to do (right after eating and sleeping). With all of this heat, she starts panting in no time at all. When we come home from our walks, she guzzles down water and then sprawls belly-down on the wood floor near an air conditioning vent.
My husband and I love to play games. Not surprisingly, one of our favorite date night ideas is to have a game night in. We will invite another couple over and either play a game as couple vs. couple or as an individual competition. It is a great way to socialize and enjoy company.
When my sister was in high school she dated a guy whose favorite flavor ice cream was vanilla. She always said how boring that was – how can vanilla be a favorite flavor? Fast forward (I’m not going to tell you how many) years and vanilla is her favorite flavor creamer for her coffee. We […]
According to WebMD, lavender contains an oil that seems to have sedating effects and might relax certain muscles. That explains why it is often used in spa products and aromatherapy. As you may know, I suffer from migraines, and have tried many things to prevent and treat them. Too many to list here (maybe one […]
As January comes to a close everyone starts to think about my favorite February holiday… Valen- NOPE – World Nutella Day on February 5! Did you know that such a fabulous day existed? You can read all about it here. I am a huge fan of this hazelnut spread. To celebrate the day this year, […]
This post brought to you by Carton Smart. All opinions are 100% mine. Every year I look forward to certain foods during the holidays. Everyone has their own favorites, but mine are almost always dessert and/or carb related. Translation? I love me some comfort foods! I especially look forward to my mom’s Apple Crunch dessert. […]
Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa all have one thing in common – food! Most families have great recipes that are passed down from one generation to another, and that’s where the best cookies in the world come from. Fortunately for us, many of these people are also bloggers! I’ve done a little round up of some […]
