Well, after posting last week about my desire to bring back the Saturday Spark series, I came to the conclusion that many of you are on board! Thank you so much to everyone who commented to let me know what you thought; I appreciate it.
So, each week I will feature a challenge for you and your spouse designed to bring you closer and keep the spark alive! Hopefully you will take the challenge and let everyone know how it is going in the comments section below each post.
Let the games begin
Don’t worry, I am not referencing the Hunger Games here…there will be no fight to the death! This week’s challenge is based on the idea that couples need to ‘play’ together. Our daily lives tend to be centered around serious topics such as work, bills, traffic, and so on. As a couple, it helps to be able to be silly and have fun with one another…forget the daily grind and just play. With this in mind, my husband and I recently sat down and played a couple of board games together.
If you’ve kept up with my posts, you know that we have a dining/game/library room where we have all of our games stored. We both love games, but rarely sit down and play them. So, we decided that we needed to start doing this more often. We each chose a game and sat down to play them together. After a couple of hours we realized we were both relaxed and having fun. We weren’t thinking about what we needed to do for work, or what needed to be cleaned, we were just having fun.
This week’s challenge
I invite you to try the following this week. Sit down with your spouse and play a game. It can be anything: board game
, card game, video game…heck, it can even be a crossword puzzle! Just sit and do it together as a couple. Put all serious thoughts out of your minds and concentrate on having fun. If you have kids, do this after they have gone to bed so you aren’t thinking about them, or being interrupted.
So, do you think you can do it? Can you carve out some time for this? What game will you play?
Have fun with it, and let us know how it goes in the comments below!
