Ask anyone in my family what cookie they have to have during the holidays, and every one of them will answer peanut butter kiss cookies. Some of you may know them as peanut blossoms, but we’ve always called them peanut butter kiss cookies in our family. Forget the sugar cookies and gingerbread, we want some peanut butter and chocolate at our holiday parties! Okay, to be honest, I want peanut butter and chocolate year-round.
One of the really tough parts of the holiday season is not eating too many calories. For me, those extra calories are usually coming from all of the sweets I eat. But, I’m not alone. I recently found out that the average American eats more than 22 teaspoons of added sugar every day. Okay. Think about that. Picture 22 teaspoons filled with sugar lined up on your counter. That is crazy! That is more than triple the recommended amount of sugar for women and more than double the recommended amount for men!
I love me some sweets, so I need to start thinking of ways to reduce my sugar intake; therefore reducing my calorie intake. This is one time I want to be one of those below average Americans. Yea for underachievers!
Sweet Swaps™ Ideas
We’ve all heard of SPLENDA® before but have you heard of their Sweet Swaps™ Ideas? They are all about making smarter decisions for a healthy lifestyle. Like swapping full sugar for SPLENDA® Sweetener Products in order to save calories. For example, if you swap one cup of sugar for one cup of SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener, Granulated, you can save over 600 calories.
Once I heard about this, I knew I wanted to try some of their products with my holiday baking. What did I think of first? Peanut butter kiss cookies of course! I headed over to Walmart to see what SPLENDA® Sweetener Products they carried. They had them all! I picked up some SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend and the rest of my cookie ingredients.

What is your favorite holiday cookie? Can you make it with less calories?
I honestly have never cooked or baked with Splenda, but I will keep this recipe in mind in case I need something with less sugar sometime.
I never thought to make them with Splenda, but I will now! Those look as delicious as they could possibly be!
I am a nut for baking with Splenda and… *shhh Truvia. Being diabetic I have to cut the sugar where I can. These look so dang good and can’t wait to try it! Thanks for posting this!
These look so good. I am going to have try them. I like Stevia in the Raw too though. Thanks for the tips on how to lower our daily sugar intake.
That’s really lovely! I like the low calorie part, lol. I always see sugar cookie versions of these, peanut butter is definitely more like it.
You can bake for me any time. These look perfect. I bet they taste incredible. #client
