Okay, anyone else a procrastinator like me? Not one of my best character traits, but it is one I have lived with my whole life and don’t seem to be doing anything about (see last minute couples costumes and last minute DIY gift ideas). What does this have to do with New Year’s Eve? Well, for the first time since my husband and I have been together, we are not going to a New Year’s Eve event at a hotel near his hometown. So, what to do…what to do??? We have decided to stay home and enjoy the night together, but I still want to make it a special evening. As usual, I have headed to Pinterest for some last minute New Year’s Eve party ideas that we can use as a couple. Hope you enjoy!
Food and drink
I like the idea of sparklers on top of the dessert; ice cream like below, or maybe a cupcake?
You have to do a champagne toast, why not also include this idea that incorporates a neat Spanish tradition! You quickly eat a dozen grapes at midnight. “The fruits are said to be a predictor of the year ahead: Each sweet grape represents a good month, each sour grape a less-than-lucky one.”
These cute accordion fan clocks are fun. I also like the countdown numbers in wine corks. If we are really adventurous, I could print these out and attach them to shot glasses. On second thought, 10 shots might be a bit too much…right?
I love this idea. Maybe I will print out a version and leave it for my husband on Monday morning!
Lastly, I am including this idea because I have wanted to do this for a couple years now and never get motivated to start it. So, if I include it here I might get my butt in gear and buy the mason jar. This photo is from a site where the author used it to keep funny things her children said over the year. However, I would like to use it to keep track of all of the great memories during 2013 and then read them with my hubby on New Year’s Eve next year.
So, do you have any fun ideas or traditions to add? Please share in the comments below!
