Halloween parties aren’t just for kids – Halloween parties can be great fun for adults too! It’s the only time of year adults can dress like Wonder Woman or Batman in public and not get weird stares. Might as well take advantage of it and have an adult Halloween party!
Hosting a Halloween party is so much fun you may just make it an annual thing. Check out some of the ideas below to make your bash ghoulishly amazing!
Halloween party decorations
Start by decorating for the occasion. Drape as much in black as you can, and get some fake spiderwebs for corners. You can even buy adorable labels for your spirits (not the undead kind of spirits). Clearly mark the restroom with a restroom door decoration.
You can also go with a costumed theme – superheroes, zombies, ghouls, and movies are popular. Any of those ideas make for great pictures afterward. Be careful, though, some people don’t like to be stuck into a theme and won’t show up if they don’t want to dress like that. As a matter of fact, some people love Halloween parties but feel uncomfortable dressing up at all. It might be a good idea to make a notation on the invitation that dressing up is welcome but optional.
Fun Halloween treats
The best parts of any Halloween party are the food & drinks! Here are a few recipes for some fun treats:
Bloody Popcorn
Popcorn
Butter
Red food coloring
Super easy – take melted butter, add food coloring, and drizzle it over popcorn! (This is a messy one – make sure you have plenty of napkins!) You can also use different colors to make green slimy popcorn, moldy popcorn, dirty popcorn, etc.
Pomegranate S’Cream Sodas
These Pomegranate S’Cream Soda cocktails are a bloody good Halloween treat! Get the recipe.
Creepy Crawly Ice Cubes
Also a very simple idea – take regular ice cube trays, insert (washed) novelty bugs into them, fill them with water, and freeze. Your guests will have spiders or flies in their drinks all night!
Swamp Punch
2 cans (12 oz. each) frozen lemonade concentrate, partly thawed
2 cans (12 oz. each) frozen orange juice concentrate, partly thawed
1 bottle (750 mL) Light Rum (optional)
2 bottles (2 liters each) lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7-Up)
2 quarts of lime sherbert
Find a plastic body part from the dollar store and stick it in there – guests will love it! Also, you can serve the punch in a cauldron for added effect (check the local dollar store).
Brain Hemorrhage Shot
Isn’t this shot creepy? Get the recipe
Now that you’re armed with these scary ideas, let’s party!
Do you have any adult Halloween party ideas to add?
Holly @ Woman Tribune says
That brain hemorrhage shot looks disgusting, and perfect for an adult Halloween party! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I always spend the later part of the evening with some of my favorite scary movies and a cocktail of choice. Now you’ve got me wondering if I could go through swamp punch by myself…

Adult Halloween parties are so much fun! It can be fun to leave the kids behind and just play dress up for a night!

I love your ideas! We had a Halloween party a couple of years ago where we put up the glow in the dark spider web and we all wore glow in the dark things and made those glow in the dark alcoholic drinks. It was awesome!

That sounds so cool, Lacey! Great ideas.

Hi Stacy,
Thanks for the ideas you have posted.
Here’s an idea in return. Jack-O-Lanterns suspended in mid air with invisible wire or fishing string. It makes it look like they are levitating!
Stacey Werner says
Great idea, Andrew. That would look so cool!
