Sometimes married couples (even newlyweds) want to rekindle the spark in their marriage. Recently, I have included some posts about how you can go about doing this. However, I haven’t yet addressed the issue of rekindling the spark in your sex life. It happens—eventually, one or both of you may feel like you’d like to “mix it up”, maybe try something new. I just found a fun way of doing this (don’t worry, there will be no graphic details of my sex life). Read on…
Encounter: A Game for Lovers
Encounter: A Game for Lovers is a DVD game created by Play for Two. Play for Two is a company owned and operated by a married couple. Here is how they began (from their website):
As parents, we knew that kids could occupy most of our waking hours. Careers, volunteering, household duties, projects… all demanded time. It was all too easy to fall into bed at the end of the day, too exhausted to be interested in intimacy. We wanted to find a way to change that for couples just like us.
We decided that creating romantic-exciting-intimate-somewhat-quirky-games-for-two would be a fun way to:
- provide an activity/event that was worthy of anticipation – “something worth taking a shower for.”
- provide a sensual break from “the normal routine.”
- provide the opportunity to have a LOT of fun with each other.
This is how Encounter: A Game for Lovers came about!
My thoughts on the game
I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to think about a game that essentially leads you in foreplay. Would it be porn? Would we just think it was silly? Well, the answers ended up being “No” and “No”. The game does not show any nudity or graphical depictions of sexual acts. Rather, it consists of suggested acts being written out on the screen.
The game begins by asking you a few questions, including the one shown above left where you choose what type of encounter you would like to have. You will also be asked if you want any filters on the game—don’t like feet? Don’t include them 🙂
Then, you begin to take turns following the suggestions on the screen. The example shown above right is “Kiss your lover’s hand.” You are given some time for this and then it is the other person’s turn (unless you decide to have only one person take turns). The suggested acts consist of nibbling this, kissing that, sucking there and nuzzling here—you get the idea. You each take turns with the suggestions until you decide you want to move on to your “Encounter” and have time to yourselves.
I thought that it was a neat experience. It made us spend more time on foreplay and exploring each other before the grand finale. Plus the game allows you to relinquish control—we didn’t have to think about what we wanted to do next.
