Fall is in the air! The temperatures are getting cooler, the leaves are starting to change colors and it’s time to store away flip flops and shorts. I’ll be honest, this isn’t my favorite time of year. I usually get down in the dumps with a case of Seasonal Affective Disorder. Most people get this in the Winter, but when have I ever been like most people? This time of year I can really use some things to boost my mood. Just like people love to change their style as the temperatures change, it’s a fun time to change your home style as well. But if you’re like me (and most newlyweds), there’s really not a budget for a full home makeover for fall.
4 ideas to help you decorate for fall without spending a fortune
Purchase a bag of plastic fall leaves
Buy a bag of plastic fall leaves. These will give you color all around your house, on your table or in front of your TV without having to spring for elaborate fall decorations. If you have floral wire in a craft box, you can even use these loose colored leaves to give accents to existing wreaths or baskets on your tables.
Make a Wreath for all Seasons
Instead of buying new wreath for your front door each season, splurge one time on the materials to make a burlap bubble wreath. Once you make the initial wreath, you can simply switch out the accent ribbon with something that matches the seasons. This is a great way to spruce up your door with a fresh look each season without having to buy or store something extra year round. Make sure you print out the latest coupons for Hobby Lobby, Michael’s or A.C. Moore before heading out to shop for supplies.
Visit your local Thrift Store
People get tired of their seasonal decorations and often donate them to thrift stores. If you visit the local thrift stores on a regular basis, you can find some amazing decorations for your home. You may be able to find scarecrows, pumpkin decor or little artsy bundles of hay to help you create some amazing homey touches for the fall season.
Shop the Clearance
If you love to decorate for the fall seasons, then make sure you start watching the clearance aisles. Stores will begin pushing winter and Christmas decorations in just a few weeks (eek!) and you will have plenty of time to enjoy the colors of your fall decor and still pay the discounted prices.
