My kids love the story of Davy Crockett. So when we told them we were going to visit his birthplace, they were thrilled.
The Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park is located in Limestone, TN. There is a very small visitors center (on the website it is called a museum) with some reproductions that trace the story of Crockett’s life. Outside there is a replica cabin and some information signs that tell you more about his life and travels.
The highlight of this state park for us was the Nolichucky River and the picnic area on the river bank. This place was beautiful and perfect for our lunch on the day of our visit.
Do I suggest you travel out of your way to see the Crockett Visitor Center and replica cabin? Maybe. I’m glad we visited since the kids really love the story of Davy Crockett, but I don’t think we’ll make a special trip all the way over to TN just for this state park.
No admission charge for the visitor center/museum or park.
If you do visit, don’t miss the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site in nearby Greenville, TN. (Located about 15 minutes away and definitely worth your time!)
