The other day I came upon this interesting graphic from Think About Your Eyes, a national campaign promoting the benefits and importance of eye health. They surveyed members of a national fitness center and found that even though they realized the importance of their body health and fitness, they tend to neglect their eye health.
Earlier this year I told you how my chronic migraines affect my life. As a migraineur (a migraine sufferer) it is really easy for me to get caught up in how my migraines affect me and forget how it may affect my loved ones—especially my husband. Chronic illness can be tough on a marriage. Here are some ways that we have been able to keep our relationship strong despite my chronic migraines.
Did you know that being a dog owner can make you healthier and give you a longer life? Our canine friends help to lower stress, anxiety, and even blood pressure. Obviously, you want to return the favor and make your dog’s life as long and healthy as you can. Dogs need exercise to be healthy. […]
I’ve said in the past that I am not big on making New Year’s resolutions (except maybe for fun ones like these). That doesn’t mean that I don’t reflect on the previous year and how I might want to improve in the new one. This year I decided that we needed to save more money, and I needed to get healthier. Pretty broad statements, huh? Then I got routine blood work and my doctor told me that my Vitamin D level was low. He said that I needed to improve this for bone health.
Have you ever met the perfect health conscious couple? These couples seem to be on the same page when it comes to eating right, drinking all the right fluids, and go to the gym together 4 days a week. They run a 5K several times a year to support all the right causes and wouldn’t dream of smoking, over indulging in alcohol or becoming a couch potato on the weekend. Don’t you just hate them? In reality, it seems that most couples (like my husband and I) are not on the same page when it comes to health and fitness. There may be one spouse who is health conscious (my hubby) but the other is content to sit around, watch TV and eat bon bons (me).
I’ve mentioned my migraines in the past, but I’ve never really talked about my life with migraines. Why? Probably because I don’t like to dwell on them. Migraines take enough of my time offline, I haven’t really wanted them to take my online time as well. However, I have decided to share some of my life with migraines to hopefully help others understand what can be involved so that you may empathize with any migraine sufferers in your life.
It never fails. January begins and you start seeing ads for fitness and weight loss products all over! Obviously, this is due to the fact that weight loss or getting in shape is one of the most popular New Year’s Resolutions. But how do you know which products to buy? Should you read up on the topic? Should you ask friends for recommendations? I do a bit of both; I head over to Amazon and look up the best-selling products in the category I am interested in pursuing.
Every day, we encounter stressful situations and things that exhaust us physically. The holidays are no exception. In fact, they can be even more stressful, especially for newlyweds. You have so many things to deal with: Where will you spend the holidays? Should you host a party for friends and family? Is your new house big enough to hold a party? What presents should you get your in-laws? How much should you spend? How will you deal with family expectations? And the list goes on!
If you are anything like me, you’ve probably been out on the town with your husband and realized that you need something like Advil or a stain remover. You look in your purse, and either (a) can’t find it, or (b) realize you never put it in there. Now you are stuck with a headache or big stain for the rest of your date night, right? This has happened to me too many times to count.
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is difficult in a world where it is easy to eat fast food, guzzle sodas and veg out in front of the TV with peanut butter cups. At least I know it is for me, that is why I have been sharing ideas for getting in shape with your spouse and cleaning up your diet.
