Vegetarian Recipe: Hokkien Noodles & Fresh Vegetables
Back in the day, a newlywed wife would have spent a good chunk of her afternoon slaving over the proverbial hot stove in order to serve a satisfying meal to her man after his long day at work. Today that newlywed is just as likely to be the husband, and to have spent a long day at work as well! Therefore, cooking up something quick and easy is on the dinner menu.

Vegetarian Recipe

This dish is quick and easy to put together with the added bonus of being healthy and very tasty. And with more and more couples incorporating a meat-free meal day into their week- for health, environment and budget reasons- this dish ticks that box too.

Hokkien Noodles & Fresh Vegetables
Recipe type: Entree
  • 1 small brown onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • Dash of sesame oil (can use any oil you have)
  • 2 packets (approximately 1½ lb) of hokkien noodles (round egg noodles)
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ terriyaki marinade
  • 1 bunch Chinese greens (bok choi or choy sum), chopped
  • 2 handfuls mung bean sprouts
  • Pinch of chilli powder (to taste)
  1. In a large pan, gently brown the onion and garlic in the oil.
  2. Add soy sauce, teriyaki, chilli & noodles and stir until noodles are heated through.
  3. Add Chinese greens and stir until greens are just wilted
  4. Add bean sprouts and stir for a further minute.
