Did you lose a pet this year? This dog memorial ornament is a nice way to honor a lost pet during the holiday season. In June, we lost our sweet pup, Honey to lung cancer. To remember her during the holidays, Dan and I decided to make some super easy dog memorial ornaments to add […]
Every dog owner knows that the dog is the first to greet anyone who visits. Whether it is howling at the sound of the doorbell, jumping on a guest, or barking at people who come too close to the house, the dog is definitely the greeter! To celebrate this unofficial job for dogs, here are […]
Fall is my husband’s favorite season. As I mourn the loss of warm weather, swimming, and wearing shorts, Dan revels in the changing leaves and crisp air. Our beagle, Honey, is right there with him. She enjoys basking in the warm sun and sniffing the wind while the leaves fall off the trees. Although fall can bring beautiful scenery, holiday fun, and tons of good food it can also bring some risks for pets.
The day I brought our beagle, Honey, home for the first time I had to drive 2 hours with her in the car. As a first-time dog owner, I didn’t know what to expect and hadn’t thought about much ahead of time. After about an hour, I stopped at a gas station to let her out to “stretch her legs”. I wanted to give her some water but hadn’t brought a bowl with me. I ended up buying paper plates and bottled water at the gas station and poured the water on the plate for her to drink. I can still remember how unprepared I felt!

This is a feeling that is reciprocated by […]
Not too long ago, I introduced our dog Honey to Natural Balance treats and shared our experience with you here on the blog. We still buy these treats for her since she loved them so much. When Natural Balance wanted me to check out their Natural Balance Delectable Delights Wet Cups, I think I was more […]
Did you know that being a dog owner can make you healthier and give you a longer life? Our canine friends help to lower stress, anxiety, and even blood pressure. Obviously, you want to return the favor and make your dog’s life as long and healthy as you can. Dogs need exercise to be healthy. […]
Keeping up with an active dog can get challenging. Dogs do well in environments where they have plenty of things to do. I remember when our dog, Honey, was younger, she would get bored easily and then get destructive. I have the furniture to prove it! Coming up with things to do with her that kept her busy and were fun for all of us could get difficult. This is where the idea of a dog bucket list came from.
If you are like us, your dog is a big part of your life (she is our furbaby). If we could, we would take her on vacation with us everywhere we go. Okay, I would… not sure about my husband. When our beagle, Honey, was around 2 years old, we took her camping with us. I had no clue about camping with a dog, and learned a lot from the experience! Here are a few things I wish I had known before taking her camping with us.
Most people know that a dog should start with a food designed for puppies and then switch to an adult dog food. However, what some people may not realize (including me) is that as your dog enters its senior years (age 7+), you should switch to a food for senior dogs. Why? According to the ASPCA, as a dog ages some of the following health issues may arise and many of them can be managed with diet.
