Summer is on its way and everyone wants to have beautiful skin in those shorts and bikinis! I thought that this would be a perfect time to give you some skincare tips and tell you about my experience with the #AveenoDailyChallenge.
If you follow me on Facebook you have probably seen that I recently completed a challenge given by Aveeno. I was challenged to moisturize daily with Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion and drink 8 cups of water every day for 3 weeks. While I was participating in this challenge, I also did some research about skincare. Based on this experience, I have come up with the following tips for keeping your skin moisturized every day:
Exfoliate
About 2 or 3 times a week, you should exfoliate your skin to remove dead skin and improve blood circulation. You could use any facial or body scrub you find in the pharmacy/grocery store, or you could make one at home. Here is how to make an exfoliating peach mask for your face (and 4 other DIY face masks).
Do not over-exfoliate by scrubbing your face too hard, or exfoliating every day. This will dry out your skin.
Moisturize
Keep your skin moisturized with a good daily moisturizer. After you take a shower is a great time to apply moisturizer. Make sure to leave it on to allow it to absorb into the deep layers of skin. If you have really dry skin, moisturize twice daily.
The Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion I used during the challenge was perfect. It wasn’t greasy and absorbed quickly; so no slippery hands after I applied it! It is also hypoallergenic, noncomedogenic (doesn’t block your pores) and fragrance-free. I really liked that it didn’t have a fragrance; if my dog smells lotion on my skin she makes it her mission to lick it all away! (yuck)
I read that the Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion was clinically proven to improve the health of my skin when used daily. And it did! I had significant improvement in the feel of my skin in about 2 weeks!
Drink water
This may seem obvious, but many people just don’t do it! I was one of those people before this challenge. You have to have water in your body so that your body’s organs (including your skin – yep, it is an organ) have the moisture they need to operate properly. Make sure that you drink around 8 cups of water every day.
I found it so much easier to do this with the Aqua Zinger. If you haven’t heard of this before, it infuses your water with flavor. All you need to do is add fresh ingredients, twist, and shake! I put some berries in the bottom of it and really enjoyed drinking the infused water.
Avoid these things
There are many things we may do on a daily basis that keep us from having beautiful skin. You should avoid (or at least cut down on) the following things:
- Too much alcohol
- Excess Sodium
- Sun exposure (make sure that you wear sunscreen daily)
- Smoking
- Too much caffeine
If you follow these skincare tips, you will keep your skin moisturized and healthy!
