How to Make Your Bedroom More Romantic and Sexy
If your sex life is suffering, the problem might be the environment. If you go to bed at night and look around at a mismatched mess, it can definitely kill the mood. Here’s how to make your bedroom more romantic and sexy.
A clean room is a sexy room
Start by cleaning it up. Nothing is more of a mood buster than dirty clothes on the floor and old plates of sandwich crumbs on the dresser (or in the bed…guilty!). Get rid of the things that don’t belong and dust and vacuum thoroughly. Make your bed. Once the room is clean, take a look around and see where you could make it better. If you moved the furniture around, would you have more space? Could you get smaller furniture to give it a more spacious and clean look? Is your mattress and box spring on the floor because you never put your bed frame together when you moved? All of these things are easily changeable and your mood will follow.
Next, take a look at your bedding. Romantic bedrooms don’t usually have hot pink and lime green zebra striped comforter sets. Bedding should be soft and neutral and relaxing. Treat yourself to new sheets with a high thread count, or even go with satin or silk. You can actually get them pretty inexpensively if you find a good sale. Bonus – silk pillowcases help prevent wrinkles!
What color are your walls? Do they have grandmotherly wallpaper on them? Maybe it’s time to give the room a nice fresh coat of paint. Soft colors are best – beige, white, and eggshell are great colors for bedrooms.
How is your lighting? Do you have big fluorescent lights? Change them out with soft bulbs for low lighting and a romantic and relaxing ambiance.
Make sure you get rid of any distractions as well. There’s nothing quite like having the latest episode of Law & Order on in the background while you’re trying to be romantic. Take the TV out of the room and your sex life and sleep cycle will both benefit.
Put some candles in there somewhere for lighting and a nice fragrance. The scent of lavender is both romantic and relaxing. You can even get lavender water spray* for linens.
A person spends a third of their lives in their bedroom. You’ll certainly be in a better place if yours is as relaxing and romantic as you can make it. It doesn’t take an entire overhaul – just a few minor adjustments that you’ll find were well worth the trouble.
