Sponsored Post: Thank you to Groupon Coupons for helping me save on last minute travel!
Do you ever have an urge to just get up and go? You don’t really care where, you just want to get away from home and get your mind off of your everyday life. Why not plan a last minute weekend getaway? If you are up for it, last minute travel can be a lot of fun, and save you a ton of money. Here are some ways to save on your next impromptu weekend getaway.
Take to the road
Instead of traveling via airplane, consider taking a road trip or maybe even a bus. Yep, a bus! When you think about it, traveling by bus takes a lot of the stress off of your shoulders. You hop on, watch some Netflix or sleep until you get there. I did a bit of research and this weekend (a holiday weekend) I could travel via bus from Philadelphia to Baltimore for $70 round-trip. Non-holiday weekends could be considerably less money, but I would be willing to pay $70 to avoid the traffic on I-95!
Get a package deal
If you do decide to fly, you can save a huge amount by getting a package deal for hotel+flight. Sites like Orbitz and Expedia can help you with this, but make sure to stop by Groupon first. Groupon? Yes, Groupon has a new way to save – Groupon Coupons. No need to spend any money upfront, and you don’t have to be a member of Groupon to use their coupons. You can choose from over 77,000 totally free coupons right now.
For example, if you check out the Orbitz page on Groupon Coupons (shown above), you will see that they have 21 coupons right now. If I use the 15% off promo code shown, I will not only save with an Orbitz package deal, but I will save another 15% on top of that!
Let’s say you know you want to go somewhere warm so you can go swimming. However, you don’t care if you go to a beach or to a pool to swim. This means you can go to a ton of places! Just search Expedia for hotels with pools and go from there.
Consider using a travel agent
Don’t have any time to plan? You can save time and money by contacting a travel agent. They know of so many ways to save and will be able to tell you about last minute deals for the location you want to go.
I hope these ideas will help you plan a great, inexpensive, last minute weekend getaway full of wonderful memories. What are you waiting for? Grab your spouse, pack a bag and head out this weekend!
