Halloween is usually about the costumes and kids for me. Who am I kidding… it is all about the candy! Growing up, I can remember my mom buying candy to pass out to trick-or-treaters and every year she would have to go back out and buy more. She would hide it from us, but she couldn’t hide it from herself. She would slowly eat the candy every time she walked past the hiding place. We are a family of sweet-lovers, and candy is obviously no exception.
Recently, I was looking for a way to spruce up the empty wall above the toilet in the bathroom. I knew I wanted to hang some art, but didn’t have much money to spend. Okay, I had about $10 to spend. Out of sheer desperation and an almost empty wallet, this marble art project was born.
When Dan and I first got married in 2009, we had two apartments full of furniture to combine. My style was more ornate and his was more minimal (a nice way of saying bachelor/frat house). We each had items we wanted to keep, and honestly, I wasn’t too enthused about most of his bachelor stuff. However, marriage is a compromise, and we had to come up with a way to make both of us happy.
