Couple costume ideas

While on Pinterest the other day, I realized that Pinterest users are so far ahead of everyone else. What I mean is that they are always looking ahead. Halloween decorations already? Boy, I better get with the times! I am barely over Labor Day, but I guess I should start thinking about costumes, huh?

Last year I created two lists of costumes for couples: cheap couples costumes, and the easiest DIY couple costumes. This year I consulted the experts to see what they could come up with. Here are some ideas for you and your spouse. Hope you enjoy!

Handcuffs anyone?

Robert Melton of Funtober.com recommends the police officer and prisoner costumes. You could purchase this costume from a store, or you could assemble it yourself as follows.

  • Officer: wear navy blue trousers and a navy blue button down shirt. Add a badge, a fake gun, and handcuffs.
  • Prisoner: You could go two different ways with this – old school with the black and white striped jumper (paint white stripes on a black jumper with fabric paint) or new school with an orange jumper with a prisoner number stenciled on the back.

To sing or not to sing?

TV Store Online has some great ideas for couple costumes. For example, you could be characters from the show Glee – they have a cheerleader and football player outfits. Great singing voices will obviously be optional.

Hero or Villain?

HalloweenCostumes.com has a great new tool called the Couples Costume Selector. You choose your theme and then you can easily pick the size you want for each costume. Pretty cool! One idea they think will be big this year is superheroes. It makes sense with the release of the latest installment in the Batman series, as well as The Amazing Spider-Man and The Avengers this summer.

Have some time on your hands?

Erin Flanagan Lind of Harp and Thistle Stitchery and her husband go all out for Halloween. Check out their costumes from the last two years: Young Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and Young Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. Wow, huh? Better get started now if you want to make costumes like these this year!

So, what will you and your spouse be for Halloween? Do you have any great ideas you would like to share?

My daughter went to a Halloween dance last year and she said that a couple of her friends dressed like the Clintons. She said it creeped her out all night, lol!

matching superhero costumes! I think I might have to steal that idea. Our baby and dog could be our sidekicks!
